We Might Get A Big Bang Theory Spin-Off All About Penny
While Big Bang Theory fans are attempting to come to terms with the fact that it will be coming to an end after 12 seasons, one of the long-running comedy show’s leading actresses isn’t giving up on the show just yet.
Kaley Cuoco, known for her work as the loveable character Penny, has revealed that she’s not ready to hang up her Cheesecake Factory apron just yet and has actually said that she would be on board for a spin-off show.
Speaking with Extra, Cuoco expressed just how upset she had been by the news that Big Bang Theory wouldn’t be continuing with further seasons.
“It’s broken my heart,” she said. “I am so sad that it’s ending. For the record, I would have done 20 more years.”
She continued by saying that the rest of the cast felt the same way, saying that they had had been brought to tears by the cancellation and thought that the news was part of a joke.
“I think we were all hoping for a giant ‘bazinga!’" she joked.
Us too Kaley, us too!! But for those of us who were devastated by the thought of saying goodbye to the nerd gang from Pasadena, the actress did give us a tiny shred of hope that it might not be forever.
Ever since news of the cancellation was made public rumours began spreading that co-creator Chuck Lorre might be planning a spin-off series in a similar fashion to shows like Frasier or Joey.
Kaley said that she hadn’t heard anything about a Big Bang theory spin-off but she did say that if the creators wanted to keep her character Penny around, she would absolutely be on board.
“If he called me and said ‘let’s do something’ tomorrow, I would,” she said.
E! News has reported that following Big Bang Theory’s twelfth and final season, Kaley plans to enjoy married life after tying the knot with Karl Cook back in July and she may even dabble with some producing gigs.
So basically, if a spin-off series about Penny was to be put in the works, it looks liked the actress would certainly have the time spare to do it!!
Fingers crossed they can make it happen! And if they do, let’s hope they can come up with a theme song as catchy as the original. Is it embarrassing to admit we know that whole thing off by heart?
