An NRL Player Just Took A Terminally Ill Teen To Her Formal

They may have to be tough and strong when they're on the footy field but we think this story proves that NRL players really can be soft at heart. And we couldn't love it more!!

One Newcastle Knights fan, a 15-year-old girl who is terminally ill with cancer, was lucky enough to be escorted to her school formal by none other than the team's playmaker Trent Hodkinson!

Hannah suffers from Ewing sarcoma and after fears that she would not be able to make it to her formal at the end of the year, the school happily moved the event forward to July.

The pair, who have met before as Hodkinson is an ambassador for Give Me 5 for kids, which raises money for children's hospitals around Australia, attended the Kurri Kurri High School formal event together on Wednesday night.

And social media seriously couldn't deal with just how sweet the moment was after pics of the two were shared.

Fellow Newcastle Knights player, Luke Morrison, even commented on the event saying that seeing his friend escort Hannah to her formal had made him "smile ear to ear" and labelled him a "legend".

Hodkinson, who posted a selfie of the pair on their way to the formal, spoke about the event saying,

"She may look perfectly happy in this photo but this poor little girl has Ewing sarcoma terminal cancer. Meaning at this very time she has a very high dosage of morphine just to keep all her pain away.

"It's a credit to this strong, determined and obviously very powerful young woman to put a smile on her face and get on with day to day life.

"I admire Hannah for this and I hope she has the most wonderful night."

And Trent Hodkinson we admire you! What a truly beautiful moment.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Hannah and we wish her the best for the future.
