Red Hot Chili Peppers Cover Jimi Hendrix

Red Hot Chili Peppers performed a short acoustic set over the weekend at the annual benefit gala for bassist Flea's music education organization, the Silverlake Conservatory of Music.

In addition to playing Chili Peppers staples like "By the Way" and "Californication," the band also broke out a cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Fire." You can watch a clip of the performance on Instagram.

Flea founded the Silverlake Conservatory of Music in 2001. The organization, based in Los Angeles, aims to provide affordable music education, especially for the young people in the community.

RHCP is currently working on their new album, their first since 2011's I'm with You. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, frontman Anthony Kiedis said that he feels the new material is "as good as any songs we've ever written."
