Craig McLachlan Dropped From New Dr Blake TV Movie

It's been reported that former Neighbours star Craig McLachlan has been sensationally dropped from his lead role in The Doctor Blake Mysteries.

A new TV movie is set to go into production without the 52-year-old actor who played the lead character in all 44 episodes of the show, as well as one TV movie last year.

According to The Herald Sun, Channel 7 have decided to proceed without McLachlan, however, instead of recruiting a new actor to take over the role of his character Dr Lucien Blake, actress Nadine Garner, who plays housekeeper Jean Beazley, will take a more prominent role in the story.

The TV movie is one of four planned over the coming years, apparently, the new movies will be set three years on from the original series to help explain the absence of the Dr Blake character.

A Seven representative has said: “This is a quality show which is incredibly popular with Australian viewers and employs so many talented cast and crew.”

McLachlan has denied allegations of sexual misconduct from several former colleagues, saying “the truth will come out”, and is currently suing the ABC and Fairfax, who originally broke the story.
