Liverpool To Play Adelaide United At Adelaide Oval

Liverpool Football Club have been locked into a game with Adelaide United at Adelaide Oval on Monday July 20 in what is yet another sporting coup for SA.

Acting Tourism Minister Tom Koutsantonis made the announcement this morning.

“The greatest team in the world is coming to Adelaide,’’ he said. “The eyes of the world will be on this oval (Adelaide) the newest and the best stadium in Australia."

“And make no mistake football clubs like Liverpool don’t come to second rate stadiums they go to first class"

The touring team will also play a game against Brisbane Roar on July 17 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

Liverpool chief executive officer Ian Ayre said that the visiting club had encountered tremendous support on its visit to Australia last year when they played Melbourne Victory at the M.C.G.

“Liverpool FC has over 600,000 supporters in Australia and we look forward to meeting as many of them as possible while we are in the country,” he said

It will be a busy weekend for Adelaide Oval with Showdown IXXX between the Crows and the Power taking place the day before.

It is expected the 53,000 capacity Adelaide Oval will sell out well ahead of time.

Ticketing details are expected to be announced by Ticketek early next week.
