Pokémon Go Blamed for Funeral Disturbance

A funeral service inside a Brisbane Catholic church has been disrupted by two teenagers who are believed to have been playing Pokémon Go.

The teens entered St Joseph's Catholic Church at Corinda during the memorial service for 87-year-old Neil Murphy last Friday.

Mr Murphy’s wife told ABC News she knew very little about the game and found it hard to believe they were chasing Pokémon.

"I only saw the organist shake her head and the person walk away but my friend Geoffrey, he saw the young fellow put his phone up and took a Pokémon photo," Mrs Murphy said.

She said a church was no place for catching Pokémon and that people should know better.

"It's not the correct thing to do. I have a son who was a policeman and he said if he'd seen it he would have got up and escorted them out," she said.

A church spokesman said the organist told the boys to leave, but that no-one really knew for certain what they were up to.

However, many at the service were in no doubt Pokémon Go was responsible for the disturbance.
