Grandmother ‘Breastfeeding’ Granddaughter Causes Outrage

When it comes to parenting, everyone has an opinion.

Don’t believe us? Well here’s a story about to prove just that!

The internet is freaking out after a grandmother revealed she dry-nurses her granddaughter.

A mother of eight, Elizabeth Gooden was looking after her own one-year-old along with her daughter’s newborn when she was faced with an impossible situation.

“She was inconsolable. I tried everything. After raising four children and step-mothering an additional four, I had foolishly considered myself an expert, but nothing in my bag of tricks was working,” she shared in a blog post.

“And to top it off, my 2-month-old granddaughter’s uncontrollable sobbing set off my 1-year-old.”

As she sat down with the newborn, Gooden realised she did have one trick up her sleeve.

“She was rooting around, and I felt the letdown even though my milk had been dry for months,” she wrote.

“It was a phantom sensation, but my maternal instincts kicked in and so I latched her on my breast.

“I didn’t think about it really. She rooted, I offered, she accepted. Within a few minutes, she was sound asleep.”

While her own husband questioned whether it was okay, Gooden’s daughter reassured her it was okay.

However, not everyone agreed.

After being published on Scary Mommy, the article had people sharing their disgust at the act.

One wrote: “When my son was a newborn, he rooted every female that held him. No one pulled out their boobies and offered up snack time!”

Another responded: “What in the line-crossing hell is this nonsense?! Someone needs to look up the word "boundaries" and stop over-inserting themselves...literally.”

Others showed their support writing they didn’t see what was wrong with it all.

But the last word has to go to Gooden, who really had the first word gave the blog post this heading…

“I dry-nurse my granddaughter and I don’t care what you think.”

Can’t argue with that.
