Bad News If You LOVE Eating Sushi For Lunch
Do you ever head to the shopping centre, pick up your salmon and avocado roll and give yourself an imaginary pat on the back for being SO darn healthy with your lunch choices?
In her book Eat To Lose, Eat To Win, dietician Rachel Beller says eating large sushi rolls can lead to a calorie overload.
"A typical sushi roll contains 290 to 350 calories and has the carbohydrate equivalent of two-and-a-half to four slices of bread," she said.
"So a California roll equals two sandwiches filled with crab sticks, a sliver of avocado and a tiny bit of veg."
In fact, she found one mixed sushi box from Yo Sushi in the UK has 755 calories, which is more than a Big Mac and small fries from McDonald's. Like, WHAT THE ACTUAL?!
The problem is the site rice component far outweighs the vegetable component, and is nowhere near the recommended five serves a day.
If you want to do a little better, opt for the brown rice, or the wild rice.
