4 Police Dogs Graduated Today in Adelaide

After 10 weeks of police puppy training SAPOL's newest re-cutes graduated today at the Thebarton Police Barracks.

They have joined the SA Police Dog Operations Unit and will become Passive Alert Drug Detector Dogs, sniffing out a wide variety of drugs on people, as well as in mail, vehicles, buildings and freight.

Dog Operations Unit manager, Senior Sergeant Kurt Newcombe, said the four dogs had developed a range of skills during the intensive three-month training program while bonding with their handlers.

“These dogs are an amazing resource for the community of South Australia,” he said. “I’m confident they will have positive careers, particularly sniffing out a wide range of illicit drug odours.”

So, when you see one in the street, you'd better ask yourself: have you been a good boy?
