A Man And Woman Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit
A man and woman were arrested overnight following a high-speed pursuit through the Murray Mallee which lasted two hours.
Just after 7:30pm last night Police attempted to pull over a car on the Princes Highway near Monteith, but the driver failed to stop. A pursuit entailed but was called off after fears for public safety.
Police continued to monitor the car from the ground and air as it headed east. Despite the car being repeatedly spiked the driver refused to stop. Two hours after the initial car stop and over 120 kms later the vehicle was finally brought to a stand-still in Lameroo.
Police revealed the car was reported stolen from Morwell in Victoria on Wednesday. A 27-year-old man and 33-year-old woman were arrested. The man was charged with unlawful possession, making off without payment, failing to truly answer and provide false details. The woman was charged with engaging in a police pursuit, unlawful possession and making off without payment.
