Northern Suburbs Bakery Allegedly Infested With Cockroaches

A bakery in Adelaide’s Holden Hill has been charged with breaching the Australian food safety standard 37 times.

Farmhouse Bakery on the corner of Grand Junction Rd and North East Rd will face court next month after an inspection allegedly uncovered all sorts of problems in September last year.

Tea Tree Gully Council inspectors allege a cockroach infestation was found in a prover that also had baked cakes in it.

Inspectors also found a fridge door with broken glass, icing with ‘foreign residue’, food not protected from contamination, and items with ‘other visible matter’.

The Eastern Courier Messenger also reported that bakery staff were found to lack adequate skills/knowledge relating to food safety and hygiene.

Farmhouse Bakery remains open for business but has disabled its Facebook page.
