Body Scanners At Adelaide Oval 'Inevitable'
A leading terrorism expert says it won’t be long until we see the introduction of airport-style body scanners at Adelaide Oval
The security measure is already being rolled out in Melbourne to protect fans against a possible terrorist attack.
Terrorism and security expert Dr John Bruni says Adelaide Oval management will likely follow in Victoria’s footsteps and increase its security.
While Melbourne will now only allow patrons to carry clear plastic bags into the stadium, Dr Bruni doesn’t believe the state will go as far.
“I think it’s inevitable that we’ll go down this path,” he told The Advertiser.
“It can make people (feel) more secure about going into a venue or being in a venue.
“I don’t think this is a silver bullet but it is a reasonable precaution.”
Dr Bruin said while he doesn’t believe they’re necessary, the big drawcard for the stadium is making people feel safe.
