Ben McCormack Has Pleaded Guilty To Child Porn Charges

A Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack has today pleaded guilty to child porn charges.

The 42-year-old entered the shock plea to two child porn charges after his home and office were raided in April of this year.

He will be sentenced next Friday, October 6 at the Sydney District Court.

His solicitor Sam Macedone told Magistrate Jennifer Atkinson that McCormack had agreed on a set of facts with Commonwealth prosecutors and would now plead guilty to both charges.

Police allege McCormack engaged in explicit conversations about children with another adult male and discussed pornography.

McCormack was initially charged with using a carriage service for child pornography material — but a second identical charge was laid by police against the senior journalist at a previous hearing.

The charges are punishable by up to 15 years’ jail.

After his arrest, he was admitted to a Sydney hospital to receive mental health treatment.

He has been suspended from his job at A Current Affair.
