Breakthrough With Homeless Girl Thought To Be Maddy McCann

The other day, the internet was alight with stories about a homeless teenage girl found wondering the streets of Rome.

She garnered people’s attention because she was not Italian-speaking, and bore a resemblance to English girl, Madeleine McCann, who went missing in 2007 from the holiday home her family were staying.

The blonde girl, who is thought to be in her late teens was dismissed by many, as she does not appear to have the same distinctive eye mark on her pupil that has become synonymous with Madeleine McCann, who would now be 13-years-old.

However, an update on a website page dedicated to the missing girl claims that police have confirmed the teen does in fact have a mark on her pupil.

The latest update on Missing Persons of America says:

The girl does not speak Italian. According to locals she is not very responsive and seems confused, traumatised or mentally ill. We have reached out to the american embassy, non profits and local police, but no one is willing to go identify this girl….

There is an Italian journalist who went to the girl but the girl was unresponsive so we are at square one.

The Italian reporter said: “She could be American or Eastern European. She surely isn’t Italian. She’s really scared and [doesn’t] like people.”

Italian police have attempted several times to identify the girl, but she has no passport or identification. Although police do say she responds to ‘Maria’, while giving several other names, too.
