Chaos At The QEH Overnight As Computer System Crashes
The QEH was thrown into chaos over night after the SA Health electronic recording system crashed, the nurses union has revealed.
It caused major problems for staff during what was a busy time at the hospital’s emergency department. The system was down for 10 hours and was only restored in the early hours of this morning.
The controversial EPAS system (Enterprise Patient Administration System) was recently criticised by Coroner Mark John during the inquest into the death of former Socceroo, Steph Herczeg.
Hospital staff were forced to record patient information on paper and it’s unclear whether they had access to all previous patient history.
SA Health confirmed the incident, but is yet to release a statement.
