Free Holiday Road Safety Program For Primary School Children
A free road safety program for primary school aged children is being offered again by police during the July school holidays.
The school holiday program was offered for the first time earlier this year at the Road Safety Centre and proved very popular with more than 90 spots filling quickly.
While traditionally South Australian children have the opportunity to visit the centre as part of a school excursion, not all schools participate in this program.
So in order to provide an additional opportunity for children to gain vital road safety education, Police are running the free holiday program.
Participants in the two-hour program will have a classroom session, followed by a practical session of bicycle riding on the mock roadway to put into practice their new knowledge.
All equipment is supplied and the Road Safety Centre have a range of bicycles to cater for all riders.
Four sessions, covering two age groups, are being offered at Thebarton Police Barracks, Port Road, Thebarton from 10 am to noon:
- Tuesday, 10 July for children 5 – 8 years
- Thursday, 12 July for children 9 – 12 years
- Tuesday, 17 July for children 5 – 8 years
- Wednesday, 18 July for children 9 -12 years
Spaces are limited, so to make a booking please contact the Road Safety Section by calling 8207 6585.
