Hillary Clinton Breaks Silence Following Donald Trump's Win
Hillary Clinton has broken her silence following her narrow election defeat saying ‘’it’s painful and will be for a very long time’.
Clinton spoke to her supporters at a New York hotel, and the Democratic nominee and career political was very warm in her speech, thanking her supporters and saying ‘“I still believe in America and I always will.’
She has urged them to ‘look to the future’ following a bitter campaign and believes that Donald Trump deserved a fair shot at the leadership.
Clinton said ‘I know how disappointed you feel because I feel it too and so do tens of millions of Americans,” she said, with Bill Clinton on stage behind her and aide Huma Abedin in the audience.
“We owe [Trump] an open mind and a chance to lead.”
She went on to thank the Obamas and her army of volunteers around the country but has urged everyone to keep fighting for what they believe in.
Ending on a very emotional note, she spoke for all the women in the audience saying ‘nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion.”
“I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling but someone will and hopefully sooner than we might think right now.”
“To all the little girls watching this, never doubt you are powerful and valuable ... Our best days are still ahead of us.”
Donald Trump is now the president-elect of the United States following a 279 to 228 victory in the election; the target is 270.
