Jamie Murphy Arrives Back In Australia After Bali Nightmare

Just before midnight, Jamie Murphy’s Bali nightmare came to an end.

Flanked by his parents, the 18-year-old school leaver touched down at Perth Airport after spending two days in police custody.

In an attempt to avoid the waiting media, the family were ushered through a side door and to a van in a restricted, fenced-off car park and out of the international terminal.

Jamie had just graduated from high school before arriving in Bali on Sunday with two friends but things quickly went downhill on Tuesday night after it was alleged he was picked up at a Kuta nightclub with a small plastic bag containing white powder.

He was detained at Kuta Police Station as tests were carried out on the powder, as well as his blood and urine.

It was then revealed that the white powder was a mixture of painkillers, cold and flu medication and caffeine.

Under Indonesia's strict drug laws, the young man faced up to 12 years in jail and an $800,000 fine if he was found guilty of possessing an illicit drug.
