Serena Williams Has Offered Advice To Record-Breaking Aussie
US tennis megastar Serena Williams has offered advice to Australian swimming sisters Bronte and Cate Campbell, saying ‘’put family first.’’
Serena has gone head-to-head on the tennis tour circuit with her sister for more than a decade, including eight grand slam triumphs at her sibling's misfortune and says she has learnt how to deal with the issue of ruining a family members aspirations.
The Campbell sisters will have to endure the same when they square off in the 50m and 100m freestyle finals, barring a disaster, in Rio this week.
Williams was open to saying that she had no idea who the Campbell sisters were or what sport they were involved in but has gained interest in them after learning of what is ahead of them in the pool.
"Are they competing against each other? What sport?," Williams asked after her 6-4, 6-2 opening round victory against Gavrilova on centre court.
"Oh, that's cool. Well, I hope they can get gold and silver - I always root for sisters. As long as there are no Americans in there. They've just got to leave it all out in the pool and once they get out of the pool, family first."
Australia currently lead the medal tally, ahead of the USA and China.
