Trio Receives Bail After Sickening St Kilda Police Assault

Three men accused of an "appalling" and "extremely violent" assault on two police officers in beachside Melbourne have been released on bail.

Trent Potts, Phillip O'Donnell and Jules Tobin faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday over the alleged attack, which was captured on camera in St Kilda in the early hours of Sunday, with one officer's head repeatedly pushed into the ground.

Magistrate Andrew McKenna described the incident as "appalling" but freed the trio on bail, despite prosecutors arguing they should remain in custody for public safety, while a fourth co-accused was bailed on Monday.
