Jodie and Soda's rescue for Laura and Ben
After a significant run of outs Laura and Ben Passmore were due a change in fortune.
On Monday morning, they got a call from Mix102.3 breakfast hosts Jodie and Soda, who wanted to at least make one part of their lives a little easier.
Since going through, eight rounds of unsuccessful IVF, Ben was made redundant from his work. His health soon took a bad turn and is now operating with just 10% kidney function, requiring eight hours a day of dialysis.
Then at age 40, he had a heart attack. He spends significant time in hospital and is on the wait list for a kidney and pancreas transplant.
Incredibly, during all their battles, Laura did fall pregnant and had a baby girl, Hadley. Poor Hadley has recently been diagnosed with hip dysplasia, requiring a full body brace.
The financial burden on the family has been significant and they have also been struck by a blown engine in their car, with $10,000 of repairs needed.
Jodie and Soda received Facebook messages from Ben and Laura’s friends, asking if they could get Laura on to play Jodie and Soda’s $100,000 Minute.
With $1,000 up for grabs for answering 10 questions in one minute, that could be an opportunity to ease some of the financial stress on the family.
Jodie and Soda decided to help out. They made sure Laura had all the easiest questions to win the $1,000 and then pitched in to pay their electricity bill of close to $1,000 and get a cleaner to help out around the house.
