Hilary Duff’s latest photo on Instagram has been inundated with comments from mummy-shamers who have given their two cents on the latest accessory worn by her 8-month-old daughter Banks.
The image is a black and white shot of Hilary laughing and holding little Banks as she tries to steal her mumma’s sunglasses.
But some eagle-eyed followers have noticed that little Banks is now flaunting a pair of earrings in her ears.
The studs appear to be new as they can’t be seen in other recent baby photos shared by the actress on Instagram.
The earrings have sparked somewhat of a debate in the comments section about whether or not it is okay to piece a baby’s ears.
While lots of people complimented how cute Banks looked, others wrote angry comments saying that it wasn’t okay to cause a baby such as “tremendous amount of pain”.
“I can’t fathom why you would think it’s okay to have your daughter’s ears pierced. Causing her a tremendous amount of pain and discomfort,” wrote one mummy-shamer.
“Shame on you to pierce your baby! We’re not in the Middle Ages. Let her chose what she wants to do with her body once she’s grown up!!! This is just so silly to make a baby a jewellery display,” wrote another.
But luckily, a lot of followers have also come to Hilary’s defence.
“My ears were pierced when I was 6 weeks old. Y’all need to chill. It’s not child abuse to pierce babies’ ears,” someone wrote.
“Baby is fine and ear piercing is so far from abuse!” said another.
Hilary hasn’t yet commented on the hate so hopefully she’s not paying attention to what they have to say!
