TO SAY JODIE AND SODA HAD CONTRASTING STARTS TO THEIR 52HR FERRIS WHEEL MARATHON WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT.

Watch the video above to see how they were feeling about their first day when they got together for the Mix102.3 breakfast show on Thursday morning.

Jodie was refreshed having slept a night in her Dave Benson caravan on site at the Garden of Unearthly Delights.

Earlier in the day she was forced off the ferris wheel due to motion sickness, ending her bid to break a Guinness World Record by riding the wheel for 52 hours without sleeping.

The evidence of how sick Jodie really was is overwhelming and the emotion she showed in the hours after she got off the wheel was very touching.

“I’ve let myself down, I’ve let the team down, I’ve let my family down and most importantly I’ve let the FOTS down” she said in a video recorded for the loyal ‘friends of the show’ who have followed the build up to the world record attempt over the past month.

“I just felt so sick that I had to get off and they wouldn’t let me back on again. Please get behind this guy (Soda) who is actually my hero because it is harder than it looks.

“I’m going to be here like a little labrador dog just supporting him the whole time.

“To Dave Briggs I’m sorry I couldn’t do a bit more for Kerry but hopefully we can still get this job done.”

Soda meanwhile has pushed on past the 24hr mark of riding the ferris wheel, spending last night awake, going around and around on the ferris wheel.

“I started to wane around 3 or 4am,” Soda said on Thursday morning.

“A lot of people on Facebook suggested I watch ‘Dirty John’ so I started that but my eyes started to droop so I stood up and moved around and started playing Dementia Buster with Jase from work and some of the street crew!

“It kept me awake. I was at the top of the wheel yelling them out and then someone from over on the balcony of the apartments on Dequetteville Tce yelled ‘would you shut up’, we were that loud!

“To the FOTS, thank you so much for your messages. I spent an hour reading the Facebook comments and I’ve gotta say it gave me a massive, massive uplift and some real motivation.

“There were some really lovely words about you too Jode with our sickness, it was heart warming to read so many of those messages, I really loved it so thank you so much to those people you’ve kept me going.”

Jodie said she had initially been too scared to look at the comments on Facebook “because I thought I was going to get wacked because I only lasted six hours but everyone has been really, really kind.”
