Comedian Joel Creasey has commented on the difficulties gay footballers may face in coming out publicly, after admitting that he had a sexual affair with a “bloody good” AFL player.

Creasey made the revelation in his new book Thirsty: Confessions of a Fame Whore and told Jodie and Soda that while it would be difficult to come out as a footie player, he hopes it won’t be long until one does.

“I’ve been sitting in the stands of football and heard awful things said so I understand,” he said during this morning’s chat.

“I think the time has ripened and I think whoever comes out will be doing an amazing thing and, you know, give me a call!”
