Kyly Clarke and former Aussie Test cricket captain Michael Clarke announced that they were separating after seven years of marriage earlier this year.

The pair announced the news in a joint statement in February saying that they had made the decision together and that their split would remain amicable so that they could continue to co-parent their four-year-old daughter Kelsey Lee.

“After living apart for some time, we have made the difficult decision to separate as a couple, amicably,” the statement said at the time.

“With the greatest of respect for each other, we’ve come to the mutual conclusion that this is the best course for us to take while committed to the co-parenting of our daughter.”

Kyly Clarke joined Kyle and Jackie O this morning ahead of the premiere of her new role on TV show ‘House Rules’ when she told us that the split is still completely amicable.

In fact, she said that she still sees Michael everyday and not much has actually changed as they try to keep a sense of normalcy for their daughter.

As for whether Kyly would be changing her last name following her split, she told us that she would never even think about doing this because no matter what they are still a family and Clarke is the name that ties their family together.

“The first thing I just thought of when I introduced you there, Kyly Clarke, are you keeping the name there?… Or are you rolling with your old name?” Kyle asked Kyly this morning.

“No, that is my name. It’s also my daughter’s name” Kyly said, saying that she won’t be going by anything other than Kyly Clarke.

Jackie agreed with this sentiment, saying that you want to keep your last name the same as your child, even after going through a separation.

“I’m the same, I want to keep that surname as well for that very reason,” Jackie said.

“Exactly! I think that’s a bit of a fuss,” Kyly continued. “I think it’s funny how sometimes you make such a fuss in the beginning about changing names or not changing names but I think it’s very important that our last names are the same and I love that.”

Kyly went on to say that making sure Kelsey Lee was the number one priority throughout the whole separation was very important to both her and Michael.

“It’s weird because we basically see each other everyday anyway, so I don’t even know if it feels any different,” she laughed.

“You know, Kelsey Lee is our priority so we’re just doing everything that is in her best interest. Her happiness is paramount.”

Break ups are never easy so it’s so nice to see that they’re making things work for them and their family.
