Get your Hawaiian shirts and hula skirts ready Ohana [family, duh], because Disney is making all our childhood dreams come true by making a live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch.
According to The Hollywood Reporter the reboot will be based on the 2002 Disney film not the equally amazing TV series, and it will apparently be created by the same team making the Aladdin live-action reboot due to be released next May.
That means that the script is being written by Mike Van Waes and Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich is producing. No word yet on who will be cast in the remake and there’s also no release date confirmed yet, but either way, this is the best news ever!
In case you don’t remember, the original Lilo & Stitch movie is set in a surfy town in Hawaii and focuses on a girl names Lilo who befriends an alien creature named Stitch. The pair become instant friends and get into a load of mischief together.
Overall the film has a really uplifting storyline as Lilo teaches Stitch how to love. It also created out favourite quote of all time, “Ohana means family. Family means no one get’s left behind.”
…We’re not crying…YOU’RE CRYING!!
This is going to be amazing!! Stay tuned for that release date.
