After telling her story yesterday of battling breast cancer following a tragic still birth, Maria Gaban has received some incredible support messages from our FOTS.

Today Soda read them to her.

It prompted some tears and brought up an important issue.

“I just wanted to get the messages across for younger women because I was 38,” she said.

“If something doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it. Like I said, the first time (my cancer) wasn’t picked up. Keep going back, you’ve got to make sure you get on top of it (early).

“Mammograms aren’t free for women under 50. Unless you have the history of breast cancer which I didn’t. There was no need for me to have a mammogram (but) my particular cancer was only detectable on a mammogram.

“You’ve got to be on to it because doctors aren’t right all the time. Sometimes you need a second opinion.”
