Hold onto your hats MAFS fans…
In the BEST news to come to Australian reality TV since Bachelor In Paradise launched an Aussie version last year, it now seems that one our our absolute favourite series is also getting a spin-off show!
Channel Nine are reportedly making a spin-off for Married At First Sight following their phenomenal ratings success, MAFS: Honeymoon Island.
In a similar fashion to BIP, it’s believed that this show will see former contestants brought back onto our screens for a second chance at love, only this time on a tropical island location.
Sources close to the project have said that “early discussions have started” with the project set to follow the format of the U.S version that already exists.
The American version of MAFS: Honeymoon Island premiered last year with former cast members and some newbies.
The Honeymoon islanders are coupled up and at the end of their stay they have to decide if they want to get married or leave the island single.
We have no doubt that it will be fairly easy to cast the Aussie version of the show as we’ve seen all too often past MAFS contestants attempting to make their five-seconds of fame last just that little bit longer.
“Everyone’s messaging everyone to try and see if they’ve heard anything or know anyone that’s been formally approached by Nine,” said a source to Daily Mail Australia.
“Other people have ever joked about hiding their current relationships if it means they’ll get back on television.”
The show is yet to be formally confirmed by Channel Nine but some names being thrown around to take part at this point include Ines Basic and Dino Hira from this latest season as well as Ryan Gallagher and Tracey Jewel from season five.
As we mentioned earlier, there’s been no official confirmation, but if we were working over at Nine this would be a no brainer and we’d be putting this thing in motion ASAP!
We’ll just be sitting here patiently waiting for the green light!
