Miley Cyrus blew us away with a powerful and passionate set at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

The Wrecking Ball singer was the opening act for the second night of the show, which features a star-studded line up of talent including Alicia Keys, Def Leppard, Camilla Cabello and Green Day.

During her performance she spoke candidly to fans about her journey to feeling empowered.

“iHeartRadio was one of the first shows I did where I really freaked people out,” she said.

“My microphone was a banana and people didn’t like that it was a sex joke. I came out here in an outfit my mum was really pissed off about and I didn’t know why, but then a million more mums were pissed about it too.”

The star credited iHeart for creating a show that celebrates diversity.

“I love this show! I love a show that celebrates every type of music, every type of person,” she said.

“My dad thought it was very important that I had more females than males in my jukebox and I guess that’s why I am standing here right now feeling really powerful and I hope everyone else out there feels that same amount of power.”
