Netflix Just Removed All of 'Harry Potter' So Our Weekend Plans Are Cancelled

If you’ve been binging the Harry Potter series on Netflix weekly in an effort to hide yourself from the fact it’s been nearly 10 years since the last movie came out, we have bad news.

The entire Harry Potter series was on Netflix’s regular chopping block for January 2020, as licenses they can’t keep expire and the streaming giant clears them out. While some sites had reported that Harry Potter was on the way out for 2020, Netflix themselves hadn’t warned users, ending some binges midway through.

After the series was given the ol’ Depulso from Netflix’s libraries, Netflix was made well aware of their mistake by users, leading them to post an apology, pointing users to the complications of maintaining high-profile licenses like the Wizarding World.

The two Fantastic Beasts movies are still available to stream, but we haven’t been able to find if the original 8 films will be returning to an Australian streaming platform any time soon. Perhaps its time to bust out your DVDs and watch them like it’s 2011 all over again?
