Selena Gomez has reportedly been hospitalised in a mental health facility after suffering an alleged “emotional breakdown”. A source told ET that the 26-year-old singer has been suffering from depression since undergoing a kidney transplant last year.

It’s reported by TMZ that Gomez has been hospitalised twice in the past two weeks following complications with her transplant. She is now said to be at an East Coast psychiatric facility receiving dialectical behaviour therapy.

Speaking with ET, a source close to the artist said that she has been suffering from depression for a long time.

“Selena has dealt with depression for a while and her and the people around he have always kept an eye on how she feels, even more so since her kidney transplant,” said the source.

“Selena wasn’t feeling well and went to the hospital, as she does whenever she feels off. After further monitoring it was decided that Selena would seek treatment at a [mental health] facility.”

TMZ are reporting that Gomez suffered an “emotional breakdown” after suffering health issues last week relating to her kidney transplant.

Just two weeks ago, the ‘Back To You’ singer told her Instagram followers that she was taking a break from social media.

“Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember – negative comments can hurt anybody’s feeling,” she wrote.

This isn’t the first time that Gomez has been checked into a facility for mental health issues. Earlier this year it was reported that she was attending a wellness program in New York to treat depression and anxiety.

In September last year, the singer also revealed that she had undergone a kidney transplant due to her lupus diagnosis. Longtime friend and actress Francia Raisa was the donor.

On Instagram, Gomez said that she needed the transplant for her “overall health” and thanked her “beautiful friend” for making the “ultimate gift and sacrifice”.
