For the first time in a decade, it looks like Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson are reuniting.
Law & Order: Organized Crime is the new spinoff from the SVU juggernaut.
Thing is, it’s predominantly starring Christopher Meloni as Stabler, but it’s understood that his new role will be introduced in the season 22 premiere of SVU… where he worked opposite Benson, played by crime-fighting badass, Mariska Hargitay.
The pair led the show for SVU‘s first 12 seasons and, after this dumpster fire of a year we’re having, it’s the reunion we deserve.
Meloni was last seen as Stabler at the end of season 12 of Law & Order: SVU in 2011 when he was involved in a shooting at the precinct. His character was written-off in the season 13 premiere, with Stabler abruptly retiring from the police force.
“However, the city and police department have changed dramatically in the decade he’s been away,” the new series’ synopsis reads.
“…and he must adapt to a criminal justice system in the midst of its own moment of reckoning. Throughout the series, we will follow Stabler’s journey to find absolution and rebuild his life, while leading a new elite task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful criminal syndicates one by one.”
