To help inspire us to come out of our winter hibernation, we’ve put together a list of the Top 5 pub meals in Adelaide.

There’s something for everyone from the ritzy to the hearty.

Yak Brewing is also calling on Australians to vote for their favourite pub meal, with one winner being crowned as Australia’s best from the following categories: chicken parmigiana or chicken schnitzel, steak, burger, fish and chips, and pork ribs.

For a chance to win $100, vote for your favourite meal at www.thehungryyak.com.au

The Stirling

There’s something special about the pubs that are tucked away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and The Stirling in Adelaide’s hills tops that list. We love it because it caters for everyone with a bistro, dining room, cellar and patisserie, five rooms of accommodation, a deck and even a library. For its pub meals, you can’t go past the wood oven pizzas, largely because they do all you can eat pizza for $15 for adults and $10 for kids every Sunday and Wednesday evening. Plus you can make your own pancakes there – drool!

Largs Pier Hotel

An Adelaide icon since 1882, The Largs Pier Hotel is truly unmissable on the Adelaide shoreline and its food makes it a worthy addition to our list. It’s shank and shiraz combo for $24 this winter has been a real winner, as has its famous scotch fillet steak. It has everything you need for a romantic date night, most notably the ocean views from the restaurant deck and great accommodation options to make a night of it.

Walkers Arms Hotel

Just north of the city, the Walkers Arms Hotel has a beer garden that fans of sport and drinking could live in if their other half allowed it! Just order their iconic ‘Drinkers Platter’ with wings, ribs, squid, sliders and oysters and you’re set whether your team wins or not. The most popular Crow of all time, Tony Modra, is a regular at their footy events, and Mix102.3’s Jodie Oddy has her own flesh and blood working there in her daughter Taylor… so it’s gotta be a good one!

The Golden Wattle

Located in what 90s kids would know as ‘The Office’ nightclub on Pirie St, The Golden Wattle has transformed the venue into one of Adelaide’s newest and best pubs. The Wattle harks back to the old country pub vibe with retro furnishings, footy tipping comp, a fridge full of West End Draught that could’ve come from the 80s, and a monthly quiz night that includes a $15 roast. But they make the list here for serving the most Adelaide thing we’ve ever heard of… a fritz and sauce sandwich. Alternatively, the falafel salad and ricotta gnocchi give them one of the Adelaide’s most diverse pub menus.

Rob Roy Hotel

Look, lets be honest, when it comes to a good pub meal, a good drink can make all the difference. And at the Rob Roy you’re guaranteed a good drink. Known for its incredible range of more than 250 whiskeys, the decision on what to eat should be far easier than what to drink. There’s also 38 drink options on tap. Food wise, their schnitzels are great and they swear by their peppercorn sauce.
