Adelaide’s own Poh Ling Yeow took home the win in last night’s Katy Perry Challenge on Masterchef, but it didn’t come without a few nervous moments.

The Hot n Cold singer was sent into a coughing fit by Poh’s dish before saying (through the coughs) “Poh’s trying to kill me…literally.”

Jodie and Soda spoke to Poh this morning about the incident and what it was like cooking for the popstar.

“She’s actually everything you expect her to be. She’s very bubbly and vibrant and friendly, warm. Yeah, really lovely,” Poh told Jodie and Soda.

But that doesn’t mean that Poh’s heart wasn’t in her mouth when Katy began coughing.

“I was so scared when that happened, because, as we all know, she’s withchild,” Poh continues.

“Didn’t want to induce early labour on the middle of the kitchen floor, did we? When she started coughing I was like ‘uh oh, I didn’t think it was that spicy.”

Poh went on to tell Jodie and Soda that she knew that it was a good dish she served up, but thought that the singer just couldn’t handle hot food.

Apart from Katy Perry, the other talking point to come out of this season of Masterchef is just how much airtime Poh has been receiving.

Some people have even taken to calling it ‘The Poh Show’, and she thinks that might not be too far off the mark.

“I’m not going to lie, I am receiving a lot of airtime. It’s because I’m such an erratic performer, I tend to keep doing well and then not doing well and then doing well through the whole week.

“And it means that I’m in nearly all the cooks, which a lot of people…they kind of just, if you’re scooting down the middle, you just don’t get as much airtime. So yeah, I think it’s just how it’s accidentally fallen for me, which means I feature a lot.”
