An American couple who was awaiting their results from COVID-19 testing reportedly fled South Australia before receiving their results.
The move has been labelled “irresponsible” by the state’s Chief Public Health Officer Dr Nicola Spurrier, however, no further action will be taken against the pair.
The pair were members of a 20-person US tour group who were staying in the Barossa Valley, who had been touring local wineries. SA Health is now investigating links to a cluster of cases around Lyndoch.
Authorities are unsure about where the couple travelled to.
With South Australia recording 38 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in one day, health authorities have revealed the shocking number of cases linked to the Ruby Princess cruise ship.
Half of yesterday’s new positive test results can be linked back to the cruise ship that docked in Sydney last week.
In total, the Ruby Princess has been pinpointed for being the source of 60 cases of coronavirus in the state, so far.
About 2,700 passengers disembarked from the Ruby Princess cruise ship, and is now thought to be responsible for over 130 cases nationwide.
