Indisputably one of the country’s finest eateries (and we won’t hear otherwise), Port Elliot Bakery will close over the entirety of the Easter long weekend.

Easter weekend is typically one of the bakery’s busiest for the year, however, tourists are being urged to stay away from their typical holiday spots.

The bakery made the announcement on Facebook, receiving universal praise for the decision.

With nearby Victor Harbor home to more residents aged over 65 than anywhere else in the state, South Aussies are being told to stay away from the typically welcoming region.

Premier Steven Marshall warned against making Easter plans, saying: “these holidays, travel around this state is completely and utterly off.”

We’ll be back lining up for a pie and choccy donut as soon as this whole thing blows over.
