South Australians have woken to a new range of eased restrictions, with businesses and venues now able to welcome more people through their doors, providing they display a unique QR code for patrons to “check in”.

The COVID-safe QR code system’s introduction coincides with both the opening of the state’s border with Victoria and the easing of restrictions back to a pre-Parafield cluster level.

All businesses with a COVID-safe plan will have now been given a unique QR code, which they will be required to display for those checking in.

Some of the businesses where you should expect to see a QR code upon entry include pubs, restaurants, clubs, cafes, swimming pools, gyms, private functions and real estate auctions.

The COVID-safe check-in feature has been added to the MySA Gov App, which can be downloaded for Apple phones here and for Android phones here.

If you already have the app installed on your phone, you will need to ensure that it is updated and running the latest version. The updated version of the app will be available from the afternoon of Tuesday December 1.

Upon arrival at a business with a QR code, open up the app. You can find the QR code scanner by selecting the COVID-safe check-in tile.

The first time you enter the COVID-safe check-in tile you will be asked to fill out your personal details and phone number, and a unique code will be sent to your phone for verification.

Business with a COVID-safe plan will still be required to have a pen and paper option for those without smartphones.
