We could soon see more changes affecting South Australia’s licensed venues as the state moves to ensure further protection against the spread of COVID-19.

Under new plans, venues would be required to have a dedicated COVID-19 marshal to ensure that rules are being adhered to by both the venue and patrons.

While final details are yet to be decided, pubs, clubs and licensed restaurants would have the marshal trained in social-distancing and COVID-19 health principles on staff at all times.

Talk of the new changes come a week after the state government once again clamped down on licensed venues, with patrons now only permitted to consume alcohol while seated.

The changes could come into effect as early as next week.

South Australia currently has eight active cases of COVID-19, with 94 people connected with the Thebarton cluster in mandatory quarantine.
