Licensed venues across SA will be able to apply to expand their licenses temporarily, allowing them to fit more patrons into venues.

The change comes after the hospitality sector’s continued calls to allow venues to welcome more people through their doors upon the easing of coronavirus restrictions.

From Monday, restaurants, cafes, pubs, clubs and wineries will be permitted to have as many as 20 customers in each indoor or outdoor area, an increase from the 10 people per area currently allowed.

Venues will also be permitted to host as many as 80 people across their entire premises, providing there is enough room to allow for adequate social distancing.

The exemptions would allow for patrons to drink while seated at a table in parts of premises that aren’t usually covered by their liquor license.

Applications are available to businesses at no cost, with the usual application processes shortened.
