Announced yesterday, Premier Steven Marshall has again closed South Australia’s borders with Greater Melbourne due to the increasing Covid outbreak.

As of 6:00pm yesterday, the border restrictions came into place causing chaos as many flocked to make it in SA. Concerns for AFL games are being discussed with a potential for a Covid bubble or fixture changes with Victoria potentially heading into a five-day lockdown.

Only essential travellers or South Australian residents are permitted to enter SA, though must quarantine for 14-days. For those who returned from Victoria from May 20, you will need to get tested immediately and quarantine until you receive a negative response, with follow up tests on days five and 13.

Those Victorians coming from Bendigo are allowed to enter, though will have to undergo the 14-day quarantine and tests on day one, five and 13.

The travel ban is currently indefinite, with Police Commissioner Grant Stevens reviewing the restrictions daily.

Currently, SA Health is flurrying to track down more than 49,000 travellers who came into Adelaide from Victoria over the past 3 weeks, since May 6. Covid testing clinics were overwhelmed with demand on Wednesday as people are being asked to get tested and monitor for symptoms.

There were 44 people who visited at least one of the 70 ‘high-risk’ exposure sites, including the MCG, Marvel Stadium, shopping centres, gyms and shops.
