Adelaide City Council is considering implementing dynamic pricing for its car parks across the CBD and North Adelaide.

The plan would see car park pricing fluctuate in real-time in-line with the amount of demand for parks, The Advertiser reports.

A model similar to Uber’s surge pricing model is being looked at, where users pay a premium when more people are looking to use the rideshare app.

The news comes following the launch of the council’s parking app Park Adelaide that allows you to top up your parking meter for a maximum of 15 minutes to avoid a fine.

More paid parking is also being considered for the south and east parts of the CBD.
