The state government has said South Australia is the best place to host the AFL Grand Final, as the league look to move the showcase event away from Melbourne for the first time.
Sports Minster Corey Wingard said “We’re the best placed state in the country to host not just the Big Dance, but also other finals clashes.
“We’ve done extremely well in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and Adelaide Oval has proven it can manage large crowds safely and efficiently.”
The Grand Final is set to be played on October 17 or 24, with a night-time fixture also likely to happen for the first time.
Queensland and Western Australia have also announced their interest in hosting the final.
