After five weeks on the sidelines, Adelaide Crows forward Tom Lynch says he’s ready to return against Essendon at Adelaide Oval on Friday night.

Lynch told Jodie and Soda on Mix102.3 on Thursday morning that if he’s selected by the Crows hierarchy on Thursday night, he’ll make his comeback against the Bombers.

“I’ve got to get picked first (but) I’m fine to play, I’m playing,” Lynch said.

“I’m clear to play.”

Lynch has missed the last five games with a calf tendon injury, and hasn’t played since the Round 11 come-from-behind win over Melbourne in Darwin.

Lynch said it was a difficult injury that had dragged on and had not been easy to recover from.

“It did drag out but if you told someone the injury they would have said this is about the period where it would start to progress and get back,” Lynch said. “We just hoped it would be sooner.”

“It was frustrating because I was able to run around a week later and run nearly at top speed but as soon as I went to take off that’s when it would aggravate again so it’s been quite annoying.

“It’s been incredibly frustrating. We were trying each week to get up and play (but) it’s just taken the time.”
