A major government-led campaign has been launched to support the businesses and people of Kangaroo Island and Cudlee Creek in the wake of the devastating bushfires in South Australia.
‘#BookThemOut’ encourages South Australians and tourists from around the globe to fully book the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island tourist destinations because “every dollar we spend will make more of a difference than we’re ever likely to know”.
“Tour with a local guide, meet the wildlife, buy the local produce, spirits and wine and stay a few nights,” the campaign launch reads.
“So much of the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island look exactly as you’d expect, pristine, pure and perfect.”
Two major deals have been offered as part of the campaign to help you get to Kangaroo Island.
SeaLink Ferry is offering passengers $30 return ferry fares for those who book by 29 February 2020 and travel before 30 June 2020. The offer is not available from 20-23 February (KI Cup) or 09-13 April (Easter). Quote promo code – BOOKTHEMOUT – when booking.
Kangaroo Island Connect is offering passengers $25 return ferry fares, which is a 50% discount, if you book before 28 January 2020 for travel before 30 June 2020. More at kic.com.au
You can watch the #BookThemOut campaign video above, which features incredible aerial shots showing parts of the island completely burned and other parts still looking lush and green.
This morning, Mix102.3 breakfast hosts Soda and Erin Phillips spoke to Tony Coppins from Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari, who encouraged everyone to get behind the campaign and book a holiday now.
“The best way to help would be to come over (to Kangaroo Island),” Tony said. “Focus on booking a holiday, instead of thinking about going to Queensland or Bali, think to travel local.
“We’re doing a special at the moment with our business. Anyone who wants to come down and book a KI Ocean Safari, we’ll pay for your fare over.”
