A man has been arrested after he allegedly struck a bus driver with a beer bottle last night.

Police responded to a report of a disturbance on a bus on Burton Road in Paralowie last night to find the bus driver with a large lump over his eye.

The driver had allegedly been punched in the face by a male passenger on board the bus, then struck with an empty glass beer bottle by the same passenger.

A 39-year-old man from Kent Town was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He will appear before Elizabeth Magistrates Court at a later date.

The bus driver, a man in his 60s was treated at the scene by ambulance officers.

Further injuries were thought to be avoided because the beer bottle did not smash on impact.
