Adelaide will break from tradition as it enters 2021, with the Elder Park New Year’s Eve celebrations shelved in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The city will instead host a new year’s eve event across multiple sites in the city and North Adelaide.

Thousands of people typically crowd on to the Riverbank to watch the annual fireworks displays and concert, however, social distancing this year will necessitate that smaller events be held.

While the traditional midnight fireworks display is set to go ahead as normal, the family-friendly 9pm display will not take place.

The choice to shift from the typical Elder Park event has been made after organisers consulted with SAPOL and SA Health, who advised on the risk of the event.

Final details of this year’s new year’s eve celebrations are yet to be announced.

Speaking of celebrations, listen to what Jodie did for Soda’s 50th birthday after he said he didn’t want a big fuss made…(hint: she made a big fuss):
