Convenience store and service station chain OTR will ask South Australians to stop using cash in their stores to try and help stem the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The company are instead asking customers to use credit cards, contactless payments and app payments instead of handling cash, according to InDaily.

Customers at OTR stores have the option to pay for their fuel at the pump, pre-pay for their coffee and click-and-collect supermarket items via the OTR app.

The company has also encouraged customers to use drive-throughs wherever possible.

OTR will also consider offering compassionate sick leave for self-isolating employees exhibiting symptoms of the COVID-19 virus or for those who have been in contact with someone with the virus.

“The company will consider providing sick leave assistance on compassionate grounds to any team member suffering genuine hardship as a result of having little or no sick leave,” OTR told InDaily in a statement.
