Police are on the lookout for a driver who crashed into a St Marys shop overnight before fleeing the scene.
Police responded to reports of a car hitting a building on South Road just before 2:30am this morning, when they arrived they found a car with no driver to be seen.
The Mazda sedan was embedded into the wall of a pool shop, police patrols were able to locate a man who said that he was a passenger in the vehicle about 200 metres away.
Police were able to establish that the vehicle was travelling along South Road before it clipped a stobie pole and lost control, hitting the brick wall of the shop at some force.
SES assisted at the scene to bolster the building and ensure its safety.
Police are continuing their investigations to attempt to locate the driver who has been identified by the vehicle’s passenger.
