Adelaide has missed out on its (admittedly slim) chance to host this year’s AFL Grand Final.
The AFL is set to announce tomorrow that Brisbane will play host to the October 24 game.
However, the location of the Grand Final will not be the only breaking of tradition for this year’s game.
The league is also set to announce that the game will be played with a start time of around 7pm AEST.
The evening grand final would be played in front of a maximum of 30,000 people.
The announcement is thought to be a reward for the role that the Sunshine State played in salvaging the 2020 season, with Gold Coast and Brisbane hosting several clubs in hubs and multiple matches.
However, it’s not all bad news for SA, with the AFL expected to throw Adelaide some consolation.
