Police Commissioner Grant Stevens has handed exemptions to both Port Adelaide and Adelaide Football Clubs that will allow them to conduct full training sessions.

The exemptions were announced by Commissioner Stevens this afternoon and will allow for the AFL teams to conduct full squad training sessions, including tackling, contact and match simulations in South Australia.

However, the exemptions will be subject to a number of restrictions, including remaining at home, only travelling to and from training when required.

The exemptions will allow the two South Australian clubs to train on a more level playing field with interstate teams.

Round 2 of the abbreviated 2020 AFL season is set to kick off on June 11.
